Horticulture Program

The seeds of possibility are sprouting as Envision clients from our West Englewood Frick Day Center prepare to bring their produce to the 6100 Blackstone Farmers Market. Beginning May 12, 2012 Envision Unlimited will sell fresh, organic produce and greenery to the public. Stop by every Saturday to purchase some healthy food and support Envision Unlimited.

The program began as a modest garden in 2010. Shortly after the garden was implemented, we witnessed marked increases in our clients’ mood and activity level. Supporters and staff have since rallied around the success of the project and, through no small effort, created a fully functional urban garden that provides our clients with therapeutic activity, work and a way to get involved with the local community.
In addition to the farmers market, Envision is partnering with local food desert initiatives and community leaders to help promote healthier lifestyles in areas of the city with the greatest health disparities. Part of the program curriculum includes cooking and nutrition classes.
"All clients learn valuable skills and earn the sense of accomplishment that comes with growing something yourself."
Trevor Karmanian, Project Leader
